Our students took the stage at Long’s Park Summer Music Series with two-time grammy award-winning Terrance Simien & The Zydeco Experience. They played washboards and other percussion instruments for an audience of 2,500; their presence sparked an energy that became the highlight of the evening. One of our students spontaneously started dancing, and Terrance Simien featured him on center stage! He also had the students interact with the audience, which brought more cheers throughout their performance. “WOW! That was a lot of people. I’ve never performed for so many”, said one student. The children’s eyes danced with pride and joy as they walked off stage to the shouts and cheers of the community. “That was amazing! We’re famous now, right?” exclaimed another student.
