Thanks to Music For Everyone’s generous grant to SWAN our students can continue drumming. On May 2, MFE grant recipients gathered at Binns Park in Lancaster City. The good weather brought out many community members for “First Friday”. John Gerdy, president of MFE, introduced the grant recipients and handed out the over sized checks.
Several schools and organizations that received grants had their students perform and our drummers were among them. It was a fun celebration!
The MFE grant also provided SWAN with funds for twelve new djembes. We are now able to add children to our drumming class which is being taught by members of Portal Percussion. SWAN students will be drumming at the SWAN piano located outside of The Ware Center. Please check our “Events” and Facebook pages for performance dates.
