Nearly 100 guests attended our “Spotlight on SWAN” banquet and showed their support by raising $9,500 in one evening! We appreciated all those who came, who sponsored tables and invited others.
Our students quickly became the spotlight of the evening when they shared their personal stories of challenge and performed for the audience. We were proud of the courage, grace, and teamwork they displayed on stage. Many commented how touching it was to meet the children and to learn about the trials they face every day.
Our speaker for the evening was 11 year old, best selling author, Madison Stempek. She shared how she processed the trauma of having her father incarcerated. Being a violinist, she was able to encourage our students to stay engaged with their music lessons and then gave each of them a copy of her book, “Everyone Makes Mistakes: Living With My Daddy in Jail.”
