We’d like to introduce one of our team members, music teacher George Yellak.
“I began taking music lessons at the age of 12 and played the snare drum in the school band. As a student music allowed me to find something that I could absorb myself with, spend lots of time and energy working at, yet never feeling like I was working hard. It was the element of play and creative freedom that really did something for me. I have been teaching music for 30 years, and a SWAN teacher for the past 4. I enjoy teaching and playing the drums, guitar, bass, and piano. My favorite part of being a music teacher is seeing a student’s countenance light up with the joy of revelation. I want to impress upon my students that they are valuable and loved because God loves them no matter how they perform.”
A few of George’s favorite things:
- spicy food
- color: green
- book: Of Mice and Men by Steinbeck
What one word would you use to describe yourself?
“Befuddled, because I like the way the word sounds.”
