Celebrating a Year of Growth at Rising Stars

The final Rising Stars gathering of the school year was filled with music, laughter, celebration, and a few emotional goodbyes as students, families, teachers, school staff, and volunteers came together for an evening performance and pizza party.

Throughout the evening, each student had the opportunity to introduce themselves and proudly showcase what they had been learning on their instruments this year. Some students performed solos with confidence, while many played together in ensembles, demonstrating not only their musical growth but also the teamwork and friendships they’ve built along the way.

As a full group, students lifted their voices in song and shared some of the group drumming techniques they’ve been practicing together. Their enthusiasm and hard work were evident in every performance, and they did a wonderful job.

Students were also recognized for completing a musical scavenger hunt and received gift bags and certificates from the Lancaster Symphony Orchestra. It was a meaningful way to celebrate their curiosity, participation, and commitment to learning throughout the year.

As the evening came to a close and goodbyes were exchanged, there were a few sad faces among students and staff alike. Thankfully, many of the students will reconnect this summer at camp, something they are already incredibly excited about.

Reflecting on the year, Holly Germeroth, Director of Operations and Bible teacher, along with Sonya Lantz, SEL teacher and Mental Health Counselor, and volunteer Mary Roberts, shared how encouraging it has been to witness the students’ growth not only musically, but socially and emotionally as well.

This year has been a beautiful reminder that Rising Stars is about much more than learning music. It is about building confidence, developing relationships, creating a safe and supportive community, and helping students discover their potential.

We are so proud of every student and grateful to all the families, teachers, volunteers, and supporters who made this year possible. We can’t wait to see what’s ahead this summer and beyond.
