December 22, 2025

During our final Burrowes Rising Stars class of 2025, SWAN students wrapped up the year with a heartwarming Christmas performance and celebration at Burrowes Elementary, surrounded by the people who support them most, their families.

Students were excited to sing and share many of the festive songs they’ve been learning throughout the semester, including Rudolph the Red-Nosed ReindeerSnowflakes Falling, a Jingle Bells medley, and The Little Drummer Boy. Their joy was contagious, filling the room with music, smiles, and holiday spirit. Several Burrowes teachers and staff members joined us as well, making the celebration even more meaningful.

One of the highlights of the afternoon was an interactive drumming demonstration led by Mr. Matt Woodsen, who shared how students have been learning to use therapeutic drumming techniques during class. Families were invited to join in, and it was a delight to see children drumming side by side with parents and caregivers, experiencing firsthand the calming, connecting power of rhythm.

Mrs. Rawleigh also shared exciting news with families: beginning in early 2026, families will be able to request bucket drums to take home, allowing students to continue enjoying the benefits of therapeutic drumming beyond the classroom.

We were also thrilled to introduce families to Brittany Torres, SWAN’s newest team member, who joined us this month as our Development Director. Brittany had a wonderful time meeting students and jumping right into the fun, drumming alongside students and the Burrowes Rising Stars team.

We wrapped up our time together the best way possible, with pizza, cookies, and plenty of laughter. It was a beautiful reminder of how music brings families together and helps our students shine.

We are so grateful to the Burrowes Elementary community for welcoming SWAN into their school and for celebrating this special season with us.
